Pythagoras
Pitagora (in greco antico: Πυθαγόρας?, Pythagóras; Samo, tra il 580 a.C. e il 570 a.C. – Metaponto, 495 a.C. circa) è stato un filosofo, matematico, scienziato e legislatore greco antico. Forse figlio di Mnesarco, noto commerciante e incisore di sigilli e Partenide, una delle donne più belle di Samo successivamente chiamata Pythais, fu convinto a seguire le orme del padre ma già in tenera età mostrò invece una predisposizione alle materie scientifiche e filosofiche, che lo portarono a girare il Mediterraneo alla ricerca di conoscenza e sapere, che egli attinse soprattutto alle scuole misteriche dell'antico Egitto. Fu inoltre taumaturgo, astronomo, scienziato, politico e fondatore a Crotone di una delle più importanti scuole di pensiero dell'umanità, che prese da lui stesso il nome: la Scuola Pitagorica.
