Sir Thomas More, latinizzato in Thomas Morus e italianizzato in Tommaso Moro (Londra, 7 febbraio 1478 – Londra, 6 luglio 1535), è stato un umanista, scrittore e politico cattolico inglese. Beatificato nel 1886, è stato canonizzato da papa Pio XI nel 1935. Nel corso della sua vita si guadagnò fama a livello europeo come autore umanista e occupò numerose cariche pubbliche, compresa quella di Lord cancelliere d'Inghilterra tra il 1529 e il 1532 sotto il re Enrico VIII. Cattolico, il suo rifiuto di accettare l'Atto di Supremazia del re sulla Chiesa in Inghilterra e di disconoscere il primato del Papa mise fine alla sua carriera politica e lo condusse alla pena capitale con l'accusa di tradimento.
