Plutarch (altgriechisch Πλούταρχος Ploútarchos, latinisiert Plutarchus; * um 45 in Chaironeia; † um 125) war ein antiker griechischer Schriftsteller. Er verfasste zahlreiche biographische und philosophische Schriften, die seine umfassende Bildung und Gelehrsamkeit zeigen und zu einem ungewöhnlich großen Teil bis heute erhalten sind. In der griechischen Literaturgeschichte gilt Plutarch als einer der wichtigsten Vertreter des Attizismus und der Zweiten Sophistik.
