Augusto José Ramón Pinochet Ugarte (Valparaíso, 25 de novembro de 1915 – Santiago, 10 de dezembro de 2006) foi um general do exército chileno e ditador que governou como presidente do Chile de 1973 a 1990, servindo posteriormente como senador vitalício, cargo que foi criado exclusivamente para ele, por ter sido um ex-governante. Assumiu o poder total no Chile depois de liderar o golpe militar, apoiado pelos Estados Unidos, em 11 de setembro de 1973, pelo Decreto Lei n.º 806 editado pela junta militar (Conselho do Chile), que foi estabelecida após a deposição do governo democraticamente eleito do presidente Salvador Allende. Seu regime foi marcado por constantes violações de direitos humanos, com mais de 80 000 pessoas sendo presas e outras 30 000 torturadas.
