マルキアヌス(ラテン語: Marcianus / ギリシャ語: Μαρκιανός, ラテン文字転写: Markianos, 392年頃 - 457年1月27日)は、5世紀の東ローマ帝国の皇帝である(在位:450年8月25日 - 457年1月27日)。 マルキアヌスの初期の経歴については記録に乏しいものの、皇帝に即位する以前は東ローマ軍の総司令官であったアスパルに個人補佐官として仕えていたことが知られている。450年7月に東ローマ皇帝テオドシウス2世が死去すると、アスパルはマルキアヌスを皇帝に据えようと画策し、1か月にわたる交渉の末にマルキアヌスとテオドシウス2世の姉であるアエリア・プルケリアの結婚を成立させた。この結婚によって皇帝となる正当性を確保したマルキアヌスは450年8月に皇帝に即位した。 ウィキペディアで詳細を読む
