Avram Noam Chomsky (in inglese: [noʊm ˈtʃɒmski]; in ebraico: [ˈnoʔam ˈχomski]; Filadelfia, 7 dicembre 1928) è un linguista, filosofo e attivista statunitense. Docente emerito di linguistica al Massachusetts Institute of Technology, è riconosciuto come il fondatore della grammatica generativo-trasformazionale, spesso indicata come il più rilevante contributo alla linguistica teorica del XX secolo. Parallelamente a ciò, Chomsky è noto per il suo attivismo ed impegno politico, d'ispirazione socialista libertaria.
