Jacques René Chirac (París, 29 de noviembre de 1932-París, 26 de septiembre de 2019) fue un político francés, presidente de la República Francesa desde 1995 hasta 2007.​ Anteriormente había ocupado el cargo de primer ministro de 1974 a 1976 y de 1986 a 1988, así como alcalde de París de 1977 a 1995. Chirac comenzó su carrera como funcionario de alto nivel, ingresando a la política poco después. Chirac ocupó varios cargos de alto nivel, entre ellos el de ministro de Agricultura y el de ministro del Interior.
