Yves Montand was a French actor, singer, and songwriter. He was born in Paris and raised in Marseille. He was the son of a doctor and a pianist. He studied at the Conservatoire de Marseille and became a concert pianist before moving to Paris in 1944 to study at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique.
