Paul Isaac Bernays ( bur-NAYZ; Swiss Standard German: [bɛrˈnaɪs]; 17 October 1888 – 18 September 1977) was a Swiss mathematician who made significant contributions to mathematical logic, axiomatic set theory, and the philosophy of mathematics.
