Henri Léon Lebesgue (; French: [ɑ̃ʁi leɔ̃ ləbɛɡ]; June 28, 1875 – July 26, 1941) was a French mathematician known for his theory of integration, which was a generalization of the 17th-century concept of integration—summing the area between an axis and the curve of a function defined for that axis. His theory was published originally in his dissertation Intégrale, longueur, aire ("Integral, length, area") at the University of Nancy during 1902. Read more on Wikipedia

His biography is available in different languages on Wikipedia. Henri Lebesgue is the 141st most popular mathematician (up from 146th in 2019), the 966th most popular biography from France (up from 1,046th in 2019) and the 30th most popular French Mathematician.

Henri Lebesgue is most famous for his contributions to the theory of measure and integration. He developed the concept of measure, which is a way of calculating the area of a set. He also developed the Lebesgue integral, which is a way of calculating the area under a curve.
