Christian Andreas Doppler (; German: [ˈdɔplɐ] ; 29 November 1803 – 17 March 1853) was an Austrian mathematician and physicist. He formulated the principle – now known as the Doppler effect – that the observed frequency of a wave depends on the relative speed of the source and the observer. Read more on Wikipedia

His biography is available in different languages on Wikipedia. Christian Doppler is the 79th most popular physicist (down from 49th in 2019), the 66th most popular biography from Austria (down from 47th in 2019) and the 5th most popular Austrian Physicist.

Christian Doppler is most famous for his discovery of the Doppler effect. The Doppler effect is the change in frequency and wavelength of a wave for an observer moving relative to the source of the wave.
