冒頓単于（ぼくとつぜんう、拼音: Mòdú Chányú; 注音: ㄇㄛˋ ㄉㄨˊ ㄔㄢˊ ㄩˊ、? - 紀元前174年）は、中国の秦末から前漢前期にかけての匈奴の単于（在位：紀元前209年 - 紀元前174年）。父の頭曼単于を殺害して匈奴の君主に君臨し、モンゴル高原を中心として中央アジアにまで及ぶ広大な地域を支配下に収め、歴史上初の統一遊牧国家である匈奴帝国を築き上げた。「冒頓」という名前には諸説あり、個人の名前であるとする他にテュルク語やモンゴル語における称号の一つで勇者や英雄を意味する「Baghadur（バガトル）」の漢字音写などの説がある。ウィキペディアで詳細を読む
