ダグラス・マッカーサー（英語: Douglas MacArthur、1880年1月26日 - 1964年4月5日）は、アメリカ合衆国の陸軍軍人。ウェストポイントアメリカ陸軍士官学校を首席で卒業し、その後は、セオドア・ルーズベルト大統領軍事顧問補佐官、陸軍長官副官・広報班長、ウェストポイントアメリカ陸軍士官学校長、アメリカ陸軍参謀総長などアメリカ陸軍の要職を歴任した。 戦争でも勇名を轟かせ、第一次世界大戦と第二次世界大戦（太平洋戦争）に従軍して、抜群の戦功を挙げていった。特に太平洋戦争では、大戦序盤のフィリピンの戦いで大日本帝国軍に敗れオーストラリアに撤退し、敵前逃亡の汚名を着せられたが、「I shall return（私は必ず帰ってくる）」の約束を果たし、日本軍からフィリピンを奪還して「アメリカ合衆国が生んだ最も有能な軍人」としての勇名をほしいままにした。 ウィキペディアで詳細を読む
