Alexandre Dumas, detto Alexandre Dumas padre per distinguerlo dal figlio omonimo; IPA: /alekˈsɑ̃dʁ dyˈma/ (Villers-Cotterêts, 24 luglio 1802 – Neuville-lès-Dieppe, 5 dicembre 1870), è stato uno scrittore e drammaturgo francese. Vicino ai romantici e rivolto al teatro, si orientò poi ai romanzi storici, come la trilogia dei moschettieri, composta da I tre moschettieri, Vent'anni dopo e Il visconte di Bragelonne, o altri celeberrimi come Il conte di Montecristo, La regina Margot, La dama di Monsoreau, Il tulipano nero. È uno tra gli autori più tradotti al mondo e dai suoi libri sono stati tratti numerosi adattamenti cinematografici e televisivi.
