Thucydide [en grec ancien : Θουκυδίδης, Thoukudídès, formé à partir des deux mots grecs Θου-κῦδος, Θεοῦ génitif de θεός (« dieu ») et κῦδος (« gloire », « renommée »)] est un homme politique, stratège et historien athénien, né vers 460 av. J.-C. dans le dème d'Halimonte (de nos jours, Álimos) en Attique ; il est mort, peut-être assassiné, entre 400 av. J.-C. et 395 av. J.-C.
