Raphaël, nom francisé de Raffaello Sanzio (aussi nommé Raffaello Santi, Raffaello da Urbino, Raffaello Sanzio da Urbino), est un peintre et architecte italien de la Haute Renaissance, né le 28 mars ou 6 avril 1483 à Urbino dans les Marches italiennes et mort le 6 avril 1520 à Rome. Son travail est admiré pour sa clarté de forme, sa facilité de composition et sa réalisation visuelle de l'idéal néoplatonicien de la grandeur humaine. Avec Michel-Ange et Léonard de Vinci, il forme la trinité traditionnelle des grands maîtres de cette période. Considéré comme l'un des plus grands artistes de tous les temps, son expérience est jugée comme profondément innovante pour ses nombreuses œuvres emblématiques et pour la manière dont elles ont été produites en utilisant un atelier très structuré et composé par de nombreux professionnels d'excellent niveau.
