James Earl Carter, Jr., dit Jimmy Carter (/ˈd͡ʒɪmi ˈkɑɹtɚ/), né le 1er octobre 1924 à Plains (État de Géorgie) et mort le 29 décembre 2024 dans la même ville, est un homme d'État américain. Membre du Parti démocrate, il est le 39e président des États-Unis, en fonction du 20 janvier 1977 au 20 janvier 1981. Fils de fermiers producteurs d'arachide, il est diplômé de l'académie navale d'Annapolis en 1946 et sert dans l'US Navy jusqu'à la mort de son père en 1953.
