Fernand Paul Achille Braudel, né le 24 août 1902 à Luméville-en-Ornois (Meuse) et mort le 27 novembre 1985 à Cluses (Haute-Savoie), est un historien français. Fermement convaincu de l'unicité profonde des sciences humaines, il est l'un des représentants les plus populaires de l'École des Annales et marque durablement les historiographies française et internationale par la définition de concepts « braudéliens » : l'étagement des temporalités, la longue durée, ou encore la civilisation matérielle sont des prismes à travers lesquels il observe le monde et dépasse très largement l'histoire traditionnelle en ouvrant sur des sciences telles que la géographie, l'économie, l'ethnologie, la sociologie, ou encore l'archéologie.
