Constance II, né le 7 août 317 à Sirmium (Pannonie) et mort le 3 novembre 361 à Mopsueste (Cilicie), fils de Constantin Ier , est un empereur romain chrétien qui règne de 337 à 361 sous le nom de Flavius Julius Constantius. Né durant le règne (310-337) de Constantin, empereur titré Auguste, Constance est élevé en 324 au rang de César, ainsi que ses deux frères, Constant Ier et Constantin II, et leur cousin Flavius Dalmatius. Envoyé en Gaule en 332, puis en Syrie, il intervient en 335 en Arménie, royaume dont la couronne est promise à son cousin Flavius Hannibalianus.
