Henri Beyle (nacido Marie-Henri Beyle; Grenoble, 23 de enero de 1783-París, 23 de marzo de 1842), conocido por su nombre de pluma Stendhal, fue un escritor francés. Valorado por su agudo análisis de la psicología de sus personajes y por la concisión de su estilo, está considerado como uno de los primeros y más importantes representantes literarios del realismo.
