Pope Pius X
Pio X ou São Pio X (em italiano: Pio X, em latim: Pius X), O.F.S., nascido Giuseppe Melchiorre Sarto (Riese, 2 de junho de 1835 – Roma, 20 de agosto de 1914); foi o 257.º Papa da Igreja Católica e Bispo de Roma, de 4 de agosto de 1903 até a data de sua morte. Seu pontificado ficou profundamente marcado pela renovação da vida sacramental, pelo impulso dado à catequese e pela defesa da integridade da fé católica. É lembrado como o “Papa da Eucaristia”, expressão que alude à sua decisão de promover a comunhão frequente, encorajar a primeira comunhão das crianças e reafirmar a centralidade da Eucaristia na vida cristã. Pio X também empreendeu importantes reformas na Cúria Romana, incentivou a codificação do Direito Canônico e combateu o modernismo teológico, que ele considerava um dos mais sérios desafios à fé na contemporaneidade.
