Tommaso Padoa-Schioppa, OMRI (Italian pronunciation: [tomˈmaːzo ˈpaːdoa ˈskjɔppa]; 23 July 1940 – 18 December 2010) was an Italian banker and economist who served as Italy's Minister of Economy and Finance from 2006 to 2008. He previously served as a member of the Executive Board of the European Central Bank from 1998 to 2005. Padoa-Schioppa is considered as a founding father of the European single currency.
