Sheikh Hasina (née Wazed; born 28 September 1947) is a Bangladeshi politician who served as the tenth prime minister of Bangladesh from June 1996 to July 2001 and again from January 2009 to August 2024. Her second term in office was the longest administration since the independence of the country, which critics characterized as a dictatorship and oligarchy. She resigned and was exiled to India following the July Revolution in 2024. Hasina is the daughter of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Bangladesh's founding president, and is a member of the Tungipara Sheikh political family. Read more on Wikipedia
