Sheikh Hasina (née Wazed; born 28 September 1947) is a Bangladeshi politician who served as the tenth prime minister of Bangladesh from June 1996 to July 2001 and again from January 2009 to August 2024. Serving for a combined total of over 20 years, she was the longest-serving prime minister of Bangladesh since the country's independence and the longest-serving female head of government in the world. Critics characterized her premiership with dictatorship, oligarchy and crimes against humanity. She resigned and was exiled to India following the July Revolution in 2024. Read more on Wikipedia
