Sergey Alexandrovich Karjakin (born 12 January 1990) is a Russian chess grandmaster and politician. A chess prodigy, he previously held the record for the world's youngest ever grandmaster, having qualified for the title at the age of 12 years and 7 months. In 12 September 2024, he became a senator for Crimea in the Federation Council of Russia. Karjakin won the European U10 Chess Championship in 1999 and was the World U12 Chess Champion in 2001.
