Roger Schmidt (German pronunciation: [ˈʁoːɡɐ ˈʃmɪt]; born 13 March 1967) is a German professional football manager and former player. He played as a midfielder in Germany's amateur regional leagues, where he began his managerial career before joining SC Paderborn 07 of the 2. Bundesliga in 2011 and Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga in 2014. He won the league and cup double with Red Bull Salzburg in 2014, as well as cups with Beijing Sinobo Guoan in 2018 and PSV in 2022.
