Moon Jae-in (Korean: 문재인, pronounced [mun.dʑɛ.in] ; born 24 January 1953) is a South Korean politician and lawyer who served as the 12th president of South Korea from 2017 to 2022. A member of the Democratic Party of Korea (DPK), he was the party's leader from 2015 to 2016 and also represented Sasang in the National Assembly from 2012 to 2016. Before his presidency, he served as the senior secretary for civil affairs and the chief of staff to President Roh Moo-hyun.
