Léon Jouhaux was a French socialist and trade unionist. He was the general secretary of the French trade union confederation, the CGT, from 1906 to 1946. He was also a member of the French Communist Party from 1920 to 1924. He is most famous for his work in organizing the general strike that led to the 40-hour work week in France.
