Jonathan Yong "Jonny" Kim (born 5 February 1984) is an American NASA astronaut, physician, U.S. Navy officer, dual designated naval aviator and flight surgeon, and former Navy SEAL. Born in Los Angeles to South Korean immigrants, Kim enlisted in the Navy in 2002. He joined SEAL Team 3 and participated in over 100 combat missions in the Middle East as a combat medic, sniper, navigator, and point man. He has earned a Silver Star and Bronze Star with Combat "V" for (Valor), and achieved the rank of lieutenant commander. While a sailor, Kim also earned a Bachelor of Mathematics (summa cum laude) from the University of San Diego, and a Doctor of Medicine (MD) from Harvard Medical School. Read more on Wikipedia
