Fazal Ilahi Chaudhry (1 January 1904 – 2 June 1982) was a Pakistani politician and statesman who served as the fifth president of Pakistan from 1973 until his resignation in 1978 under chief martial law administrator Zia-ul-Haq's pressure following the 1977 coup d'état which overthrew Zulfikar Ali Bhutto's government. He was the first-legislatively elected president in the country's history, serving as a constitutional figurehead. Born in Kharian, Punjab, Chaudhry received his higher education at the Aligarh Muslim University and the University of the Punjab.
