Christopher Franke, born 6 April, 1953, is best known as a German pioneer of electronic music and a Hollywood composer for film and television. While Franke was a member of the group Tangerine Dream from 1970 to 1987, he was one of the first musicians to use an analog sequencer on stage. The first Tangerine Dream album, Franke dominantly used the sequencer on, was Phaedra, especially on the opening track. This album introduced hypnotic, driving sequencer lines and became a notable and influential release, paving the way for the classic Tangerine Dream style and the whole Berlin school sound.
