Murtaz Kalistratovich Khurtsilava (Georgian: მურთაზ ხურცილავა, Russian: Муртаз Калистратович Хурцилава, born 5 January 1943) is a Georgian former footballer who played as a defender. Khurtsilava was discovered while playing football in the school garden in Gegechkori, a small town in Caucasus – now known as Martvili – where he learned to play football with a ball made of hay and rags. He was part of the USSR side that finished fourth at the 1966 FIFA World Cup, third at the 1972 Summer Olympics and second in the 1972 UEFA European Championship. After the UEFA Euro 1972 along with his teammates by Soviet Union national team — Revaz Dzodzuashvili and Evgeni Rudakov — he was included in the team of the tournament, where also were presented such great players like Franz Beckenbauer, Gerd Müller, Paul Breitner, Uli Hoeness and Günter Netzer. He was also one of the only two Georgians, alongside Alexandre Chivadze, to have captained the Soviet Union national team. At the club level he played for Dinamo Tbilisi. After retiring in 1977, Khurtsilava set up his own business in Tbilisi, where he now resides with his family. In November 2003, to celebrate UEFA's Jubilee, he was selected as the Golden Player of Georgia by the Georgian Football Federation as their most outstanding player of the past 50 years.

Mikheil Meskhi (Georgian: მიხეილ მესხი; Russian: Михаил Шалвович Месхи; born 12 January 1937 in Tbilisi; died 22 April 1991 in Tbilisi) was a Georgian footballer. Nicknamed the "Georgian Garrincha" for his dazzling wing play, he was a creative force on the left flank for the Soviet Union. He was invited by the World XI side via the USSR Football Federation who replied he was injured and couldn't play— he was not told of the invitation.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (Georgian: ხვიჩა კვარაცხელია pronounced ['χʷitʃʰa kʼʷara'tsʰχelia]; born 12 February 2001) is a Georgian professional footballer who plays as a winger for Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain and the Georgia national team. Regarded as one of the best wingers in the world and one of the greatest Georgian players of all time, he is known for his dribbling, agility, and playmaking. Kvaratskhelia started his senior career playing for Dinamo Tbilisi at age 16, before departing to Rustavi where he spent half a season. During his combined three-year tenure at Lokomotiv Moscow and Rubin Kazan, Kvaratskhelia won two consecutive Russian Premier League Best Young Player awards. Following a short spell at Dinamo Batumi, Kvaratskhelia signed for Napoli in 2022, and in his debut season helped the club to reach the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League for the first time ever, and win a first Serie A title in 33 years, finishing as the league's top assist provider. This saw him named Serie A Most Valuable Player and the Champions League's Young Player of the Season. After two-and-a-half years at Napoli, Kvaratskhelia joined French side PSG for €70 million in January 2025. He immediately became a focal player, as the club won a continental treble in his first season at the club; Kvaratskhelia scored in the Champions League final. He also won a second Serie A title having contributed to Napoli's title success in the first half of the same season. Kvaratskhelia established himself for Georgia in all national youth teams, becoming a key player under different managers. He then became an integral part of the senior team after making his debut in 2019, and helped Georgia qualify for UEFA Euro 2024, the country's first ever major international tournament.

Givi Dmitriyevich Chokheli (Georgian: გივი ჩოხელი; Russian: Гиви Дмитриевич Чохели) (27 June 1937 in Telavi – 25 February 1994 in Tbilisi) was a Georgian football defender. Chokheli played most of his career for Dinamo Tbilisi. After ending his playing career he worked in various coaching positions for Dinamo Tbilisi and in 1969-1970 and 1974 was a head coach. He was classified as a Master of Sport of the USSR in 1959. He played for Soviet Union national team (19 matches), and was a participant at the 1962 FIFA World Cup and at the 1960 UEFA European Football Championship, where the Soviet Union won the gold medal. The Soviet back line was anchored by the famous trio of Chokheli, Anatoli Maslyonkin, and Anatoly Krutikov in the early 1960s. Telavi's Municipal Stadium features a statue of Chokheli in front of it.

He is Georgia's all-time top scorer with 291 goals in his 410 league games for his clubs and 26 goals in his 61 games for the national team.
