Pontius Pilate
Ponzio Pilato (in latino Pontius Pilatus; in greco antico Πόντιος Πιλᾶτος?, Póntios Pilâtos; in ebraico פונטיוס פילאטוס?; fine I secolo a.C./inizio I secolo – I secolo) è stato un politico e militare romano, che fu prefetto della Giudea per circa un decennio durante il regno di Tiberio, negli anni intorno al 30. È ricordato principalmente per il ruolo che le fonti cristiane gli attribuiscono nel processo di Gesù e per le leggende fiorite nei secoli successivi, che arrivarono in alcuni casi a considerarlo un santo e un martire: per tale motivo è ricordato come martire dalla Chiesa copta e come santo dalla Chiesa etiope.
