Matilde Serao (Patrasso, 7 marzo 1856 – Napoli, 25 luglio 1927) è stata una scrittrice e giornalista italiana. Come scrittrice è considerata tra i massimi esponenti del verismo. Come giornalista è stata la prima italiana ad aver fondato e diretto un quotidiano, Il Corriere di Roma, esperienza successivamente ripetuta con Il Mattino e Il Giorno.
