Robert James Fischer, detto Bobby (Chicago, 9 marzo 1943 – Reykjavík, 17 gennaio 2008), è stato uno scacchista statunitense naturalizzato islandese, undicesimo campione del mondo di scacchi dal 1972 al 1975. Fu il primo e finora unico scacchista statunitense a potersi fregiare del titolo di Campione del mondo. Conquistò il titolo, battendo il grande maestro sovietico Boris Spasskij nel match del 1972, in un'epoca, quella tra il 1946 e il 1991, in cui era appannaggio della scuola sovietica.
