Beda, anche noto come Beda il Venerabile (in latino Beda Venerabilis, in antico inglese Baeda o Bēda; Regno di Northumbria, 672-673 circa – Jarrow, 26 maggio 735), fu un monaco e scrittore anglosassone. Discepolo curioso e attento, si formò nell'abbazia di Monkwearmouth-Jarrow. Fu autore di numerose opere, tra cui si segnala per la sua importanza l'Historia ecclesiastica gentis Anglorum, la quale gli valse il titolo di «Padre della storia dell'Inghilterra».
