Séthi II est un pharaon de la XIXe dynastie, fils aîné de Mérenptah à qui il succède. Il règne vers 1202 à 1196 avant l'ère commune. Ce roi est connu pour être le seul roi du Nouvel Empire à avoir eu affaire à une usurpation au cours de son règne qu'il réussit à réprimer. Cette usurpation de son pouvoir, uniquement dans la partie sud du territoire (Haute-Égypte et Nubie), est incarnée par Amenmes, membre de la famille royale dont les liens familiaux exacts sont encore sujets à débat mais qui pourrait être un demi-frère.
