Martin Bucer (ou Butzer), né le 11 novembre 1491 à Sélestat et mort le 28 février 1551 à Cambridge, est un théologien et un réformateur protestant allemand, originaire d'Alsace. Il est à l'origine de la confirmation protestante. Humaniste et théologien original, Martin Bucer est l'une des figures de proue de la Réforme protestante au XVIe siècle, même s'il n'a pas bénéficié de la postérité d'un Luther, d'un Zwingli ou d'un Calvin. Grand admirateur de Luther, Bucer est présent à la dispute de Heidelberg en 1518, ainsi qu'à la plupart des grandes discussions théologiques du Saint-Empire romain germanique, jusqu'à la diète d'Augsbourg de 1548.
