Jules Ferry, né le 5 avril 1832 à Saint-Dié (Vosges) et mort le 17 mars 1893 à Paris, est un homme d'État français. En 1870, après la chute du Second Empire, dont il était opposant, il est membre du gouvernement provisoire et, pour quelques mois, maire de Paris. C’est dans le cadre de cette dernière fonction qu’il contribue à réprimer les insurgés de la Commune de Paris. Plusieurs fois ministre de l’Instruction publique et des Beaux-Arts entre 1879 et 1883, il est l’auteur des lois instaurant l’instruction obligatoire et gratuite. En savoir plus sur Wikipédia
