Hugo Lafayette Black (27 février 1886 – 25 septembre 1971) est un avocat, homme politique et juriste américain qui a été sénateur des États-Unis de 1927 à 1937 et juge associé à la Cour suprême des États-Unis de 1937 à 1971. Membre du parti démocrate et ardent New Dealer, Black a soutenu Franklin D. Roosevelt lors des élections présidentielles de 1932 et 1936, ce qui lui a valu d’être le premier juge nommé à la Cour suprême fédérale par le président Roosevelt. Malgré les nombreuses controverses ayant précédé sa nomination, il a été confirmé par le Sénat par un vote de 63 contre 16.
