Henri Labrouste, né à Paris le 11 mai 1801, et mort à Fontainebleau le 24 juin 1875, est un architecte rationaliste français. Après avoir séjourné six ans à Rome, il ouvrit un atelier de formation d'architectes qui devint centre du courant rationaliste. Il fut l'un des premiers à saisir l'importance du fer en architecture. Il est principalement connu en tant qu'architecte de la bibliothèque Sainte-Geneviève de Paris, et en tant que rénovateur de la bibliothèque impériale (désormais "Richelieu", où se trouvent les départements spécialisés de la Bibliothèque nationale de France, et les bibliothèques de l'INHA et de l'Ecole des chartes).
