Erhard Loretan, né le 28 avril 1959 à Bulle, dans le canton de Fribourg et mort le 28 avril 2011 dans un accident lors d’une ascension au Grünhorn dans le canton du Valais, est un alpiniste et guide de haute montagne suisse. Après s’être formé dans les Préalpes fribourgeoises et dans les Alpes suisses, Erhard Loretan fait, en 1980, ses premières expériences en très haute montagne et réussit, en compagnie de Pierre Morand et Jean-Claude Sonnenwyl, trois premières dans les Andes péruviennes, au Palcaraju, au Caras et au Ranrapalca. Après avoir terminé premier de sa promotion lors du cours de guide de montagne en 1981, il entame, l’année suivante, sa carrière dans l’Himalaya, avec l’ascension du Nanga Parbat.
