Dimitri (Dmitri ou Dimitris) Mitropoulos (en grec moderne : Δημήτρης Μητρόπουλος) né le 1er mars 1896 à Athènes et mort le 2 novembre 1960 à Milan, est un chef d'orchestre, pianiste et compositeur grec, naturalisé américain en 1946. Dimitri Mitropoulos est l'un des grands musiciens charismatiques que la Grèce ait donné et, avec Maria Callas, le musicien classique le plus important issu de ce pays au XXe siècle. Ayant commencé sa carrière par un tour de force qui plut au public en jouant le troisième concerto de Prokofiev, en tant que pianiste et dirigeant l'orchestre en même temps, sa personnalité et ses dons ont produit sur les orchestres – et l'auditeur – d'exceptionnels résultats artistiques.
