Adam Mickiewicz
Adam Mickiewicz, né le 24 décembre 1798 à Zaosie ou à Nowogródek (aujourd'hui en Biélorussie) et mort le 26 novembre 1855 à Constantinople, est un poète, écrivain et militant polonais, considéré comme l'un des plus grands poètes romantiques. Né et ayant grandi sur le territoire de l’actuelle Biélorussie, il a profondément ressenti et exprimé dans ses œuvres l’esprit de la région, ses paysages, sa culture et ses traditions. Son œuvre a exercé une influence notable sur la formation de la littérature biélorussienne moderne, marquant le début d’une nouvelle étape dans son développement. Mickiewicz est aux Polonais ce que Dante est aux Italiens et Gœthe aux Allemands : un poète inspiré qui a cristallisé l’identité culturelle de son peuple, grâce à qui la littérature a « remplacé » en quelque sorte la patrie disparue.
