Thomas Becket

Thomas Becket (/ˈbɛkɪt/) (Londres, 21 de diciembre de 1118-Canterbury, 29 de diciembre de 1170), conocido también como Tomás Becket, Tomás de Canterbury, Tomás de Cantorbery, Tomás Canturiense o Tomás de Londres, fue un noble, político y religioso católico inglés, arzobispo de Canterbury entre 1162 y 1170, y lord canciller del Reino de Inglaterra. Fue asesinado tras entrar en conflicto con Enrique II por la defensa de los intereses de la Iglesia católica inglesa, por lo que es considerado mártir y venerado como santo por las iglesias católica y anglicana, siendo conmemorado el 29 de diciembre.
