Neil Alden Armstrong (Wapakoneta, Ohio, 5 de agosto de 1930-Cincinnati, Ohio, 25 de agosto de 2012) fue un ingeniero aeronáutico y astronauta estadounidense que, como comandante de la misión Apolo 11 en 1969, se convirtió en el primer ser humano en pisar la superficie de la Luna. También fue piloto de guerra, piloto de pruebas y profesor universitario. Armstrong se graduó en ingeniería aeronáutica en la Universidad Purdue, donde estudió con una beca del Plan Holloway de la Armada de los Estados Unidos.
