Helmut Heinrich Waldemar Schmidt (* 23. Dezember 1918 in Hamburg; † 10. November 2015 ebenda) war ein deutscher Politiker der SPD. Von 1974 bis 1982 war er als Regierungschef einer sozialliberalen Koalition nach dem Rücktritt Willy Brandts der fünfte Bundeskanzler der Bundesrepublik Deutschland, bis seine Kanzlerschaft Ende 1982 durch ein konstruktives Misstrauensvotum endete. Von 1953 bis 1962 war Schmidt erstmalig Mitglied des Deutschen Bundestages, wobei er von 1958 bis 1961 zugleich Mitglied des Europäischen Parlaments war. Mehr auf Wikipedia lesen
