Joseph Martin O'Brien (born 17 February 1986) is an Irish retired professional footballer who played as a full-back and defensive midfielder for Bolton Wanderers, Sheffield Wednesday, West Ham United and Shamrock Rovers. He was capped five times by the Republic of Ireland at senior level between 2006 and 2012. In the year 2016, O'Brien was among 13 people to be named as a victim of fraud and he testified in court for the trial. In 2021 he became the assistant manager of Shelbourne and remained in the role until June 2025, when he became interim manager of the club following the resignation of Damien Duff, then got the job on a permanent basis in July 2025.
