Jānis Pujats (born 14 November 1930) is a Latvian Catholic prelate who served as Archbishop of Riga from 1991 to 2010. He was secretly made a cardinal in 1998.

2. Jānis Endzelīns (1873 - 1961)

With an HPI of 55.72, Jānis Endzelīns is the 2nd most famous Latvian Religious Figure.  Her biography has been translated into 16 different languages.

Jānis Endzelīns (22 February 1873 – 1 July 1961) was a Latvian linguist. He graduated from the University of Tartu. In 1908, he and Kārlis Mīlenbahs developed the modern Latvian alphabet, which slowly replaced the old orthography used before. He was elected a foreign member of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences in 1936. His son was chess master Lūcijs Endzelīns.
