Dervish Mehmed Zillî (25 March 1611 – 1682), known as Evliya Çelebi (Ottoman Turkish: اوليا چلبى), was an Ottoman explorer who travelled through his home country during its cultural zenith as well as neighboring lands. He travelled for over 40 years, recording his commentary in a travelogue called the Seyahatnâme ("Book of Travel"). The name Çelebi is an honorific meaning "gentleman" or "man of God".

2. Yaqut al-Hamawi (1179 - 1229)
With an HPI of 70.54, Yaqut al-Hamawi is the 2nd most famous Turkish Explorer. His biography has been translated into 41 different languages.
Yāqūt Shihāb al-Dīn ibn-ʿAbdullāh al-Rūmī al-Ḥamawī (1179–1229) (Arabic: ياقوت الحموي الرومي) was a Muslim scholar of Byzantine ancestry active during the late Abbasid period (12th–13th centuries). He is known for his Mu'jam ul-Buldān, an influential work on geography containing valuable information pertaining to biography, history and literature as well as geography.

3. Scylax of Caryanda (600 BC - 500 BC)
With an HPI of 64.91, Scylax of Caryanda is the 3rd most famous Turkish Explorer. His biography has been translated into 29 different languages.
Scylax of Caryanda (Ancient Greek: Σκύλαξ ὁ Καρυανδεύς; fl. 510s BCE) was a Greek explorer and writer during the late 6th and early 5th centuries BCE of the Achaemenid Empire. His own writings are lost, though occasionally cited or quoted by later Greek and Roman authors. The periplus sometimes called the Periplus of Scylax is not, in fact, by him; that so-called Periplus of Pseudo-Scylax was written in about the early 330s BCE by an unknown author working in the ambit of the post-Platonic Academy or the Aristotelian Peripatos (Lyceum) at Athens.

4. Eudoxus of Cyzicus (100 BC - 100 BC)
With an HPI of 57.56, Eudoxus of Cyzicus is the 4th most famous Turkish Explorer. His biography has been translated into 20 different languages.
Eudoxus of Cyzicus ( YOO-dək-səs; Greek: Εὔδοξος ὁ Κυζικηνός, romanized: Eúdoxos ho Kyzikēnós; fl. c. 130 BC) was a Greek navigator and diplomat who explored the Arabian Sea for Ptolemy VIII, king of the Hellenistic Ptolemaic dynasty in Egypt.
